We make our patients proud of their smiles
Root canal therapy (endodontic treatment) is a special procedure that our Kiama dentists use to preserve badly-damaged teeth. They’re necessary when the inner nerve structure of a tooth is infected or dying.
You might need a root canal if your tooth is affected by:
When the nerve of a tooth dies or is infected, it triggers a process called “internal resorption” where the tooth erodes from the inside. Treating it with a root canal preserves your tooth so that it doesn’t need to be extracted.
When we remove the nerve from a tooth, it tends to become more brittle and susceptible to wear. To protect it, our Kiama dentist will want to cover it with a porcelain crown after the root canal is completed. Your porcelain crown will be aesthetic enough to blend in with your smile, and durable enough to withstand everyday wear.
